My Room Rental Business: How I Financed My House Despite My Severe Disability
Renovating is always a lot of work, but I’m satisfied with the outcome.
2014 was the year I started renting out rooms in my house. By that time, I had already been chronically ill for three years, with no hope of improvement.
The pension was pitiful, so I began moving furniture, setting up beds, and launching my room rental business.
Today, four women live in one apartment. I live in the apartment below with my mother, son, a dog, and two cats.
My house is far from perfect. And sometimes, I feel like giving up entirely because keeping everything together is exhausting.
But that’s not an option! As I said, my mom, child, and the three furry companions are there. I can’t give up.
Instead, I throw myself into the work at home, renovating, painting, moving furniture, and decluttering—always trying to make my house a bit nicer so that it feels like home for others.
Last fall, I finished preparing a room with freshly painted wooden windows and connected light fixtures.

About me
My world is filled with love and creativity at home in a charming old house with a wild garden near Darmstadt, Germany. I share this haven with my son, mother, dog Tom, and cats Lilly and Jamie. Books, classical music, and an undying love for coffee and pizza enrich my life. Italy, my second home, beckons me with its allure and inspiration.
I wear many hats—entrepreneur, writer, busy mom, supportive daughter, and loyal friend. My passions extend to animals, nature, and my vibrant garden. As an artist and traveler at heart, I am, above all, a survivor. My life is a testament to versatility and an openness to new experiences and ideas.
Dive into my world, where resilience meets creativity, and every twist of fate is a journey towards an exceptional life.
