That was a wonderfully reassuring AND useful read. I’m saving it to my Notes app so I can peek at it regularly and put your advice to good use. Thank you x
I am very well thank you. I travelled to Canada yesterday, for a five week stay, and have spent the last week preparing to leave (I am renting my flat out so there is a lot of prep to do as well as just packing.) So a battle to keep up with my Substack committments, reading and writing - just spent a wonderful day out walking the city and only now catching up. Will hopefully get into a bit more of a routine over the next few days. How are you?
I read that you planned this trip to Canada. Was it to see family? I hope you enjoy it immensely. And I understand that it must have been tiresome work to prepare everything. I have an old house (we've already spoken about it). It is a two-story building with two separate apartments. I live in one with my Mum and my son, and rent out rooms in the other one. I am constantly cleaning and tidying up, and I understand how it feels to sublet your own space: It is not only cleaning, but also storing and decluttering.
I'm not sure where I'm heading with my Substack right now. Getting the word out is forcing me to be more outgoing than I actually am. I'm unsure how to proceed, but this could also be part of the process.
Honestly, we spoke already spoken about old houses and gardens. Do you have any ideas for us to share our experience and write a piece or two about it?
Yes - I am going to visit my daughter in Revelstoke, BC (have a look on the map, it is in the middle of nowehre!). I am finding the Substack experience very demanding and time consuming, although I am enjoying it. I set out to build a potential audience for my book, on the assumption I wouldn't get an agent or publishing deal. I started in December and am happy with how it has grown and enjoyed the process - and being 'obliged' to write something every week has been a challenge and education and, I think, helped improve my writing. But not sure how sustainable it is - I would love to talk to you about how we might collaborate but, truthfully, it will have to wait until I am back in the UK and have some downtime. So I'll make a note in my diary to be in touch about this (early July)...if that works for you? I think it could be fun.

Thank you so much, dear Jenny! We haven't heard from each other for some time. How are you? Are you well?

Yes, I checked it right away. This is going to be awesome. The nature must be breathtaking. I hope you will have the best time.
Yes, let's talk in July. I know what you mean; it's a lot of work. I have moments where I don't know how to start.
I'm looking forward to hearing from you! Enjoy!
